Cast of Characters
Our tour was guided by Rick Steves' longest running tour guide, Roy Nichols. His humor and love of history, archaeology and architecture added so much depth to our experiences. We were also very lucky to have Nigel Howes with us as well. He guides many of the other tours, including Scotland. He vigilantly stuck by we stragglers in the back and never lost a member!
This was the first England tour of the season and consisted of 16 members. I’m guessing it was a small group because most people considered it crazy to travel to England in April. We saw hardly a drop of rain, but it was bitter cold despite plenty of sun. After a stop at the North Face store in Bath, we were set. Our group bonded quickly just as in my first tour. All tour members were committed to The Rick Steves' travel philosophy and arrived with open minds and curiosity that made our travels that much richer.
