Food
My sister and I are a fan of high tea and anything tea related. So, we made sure to take time for tea throughout our travels. One must compare from city to city!
Hands down, we had our best fish and chips in Bath on our first night prior to the tour beginning. This was a recommendation from the Hotel. Actually it was the best I’ve ever had. The homemade tarter sauce won me over.
Second favorite was in Keswick with the group. I can’t believe I even liked the mushy peas.

We have a family pasty recipe that we have modified over the years and it is similar, but not quiet the same as the pasties found in Wales. We tested many a pasty trying to gauge our favorite. The one we ate in Glastonbury was my favorite.
My understanding of the history behind the pasty is that miners would bring them in the mines while they were working and by lunch time, they were ready. Since their hands were dirty, the crust became a vessel for the food inside.
